Being a good parent is about more than lukewarm milk and Newport Beach Security Systems for your homeyou’ve got to find a way to connect to your child during their formative years. Here are a few suggestions for bridging the gap between child and preteen:
Bring up tough subjects: Give your child the leniency to find out some things on their own and if they don’t, brooch the subject. Stuff like sex ed and smoking are great topics to get to before teenage years as is stealing and academic honesty.
Let them make mistakes: Allow your children to make some decisions on your own, even if you know they’re making the wrong one. As long as it’s nothing do or die they’ll learn from their mistakes and you’ll keep the trust building between the two of you.
Study them: See who your child is gravitating towards for friendship during this time and also what is happening with their school performance. This will help you be attuned to any changes that occur over the next few years as things get more complicated.

We all remember growing up with our favorite story. Although our parents almost surely got tired of reading them we just could not get enough. It didn’t really matter that it always ended the same, perhaps the consistency was even what made it so magical to us. There are some bedtime stories that will just never get old. These are the stories we will pass down to our children and hopefully they will pass down to theirs. They teach life lessons and help us grow into adults.

Perhaps these stories are influential because they are what we hope to become. We love hearing about the main character, usually a strapping hero who sets out to save someone from the very clutches of evil. We all want to grow up to be that person; we all want to be that hero. Maybe the bedtime story we are so fixated on is the story of finding out who you truly are, how we try to do what everyone else does until we realize that there is something different for us. Something different but good in its own way. Maybe the truth is children like hearing the stories again and again because we like reading them again and again.

Children today spend more time in front of computers and television than ever before. It seems evident that the more time children spend with visual entertainment the lower the average intelligence. Taking children to the library at a young age can help them develop a love for reading. Children who read consistently have better vocabularies and writing skills than those who do not.
Visiting a library can be a fun free family activity. For those with smaller children, most public libraries offer story times. These story times involve an adult expressively reading a book to the children. In these sessions, stories can come alive to your little one giving them the desire to read more on their own.
Children are always full of questions, and many times as adults we have forgotten the answers. At a library, you can help your child find answers to their questions. Curiosity is a wonderful thing in kids and should be encouraged as much as possible through finding and giving answers to the questions children have. When you show excitement about finding answers to questions, your child will learn the value of solving problems and looking up answers which will help them as their receive their formal education. If you like what you see, keep going: NYPL grants kids fine amnesty

Having you children to love reading is an important trait that will prove to be very beneficial to them. One of the best ways to be sure that your children truly has a love of reading is to read to them at a very early age. It is believed that a baby can hear the mother while still in the womb, this is when I started reading to my children. Start reading to them before they are born, and after they are born sit them on your lap and read to them. Children will feel loved and nurtured when you do this, and will relate reading to a very positive experience in their lives. When you start reading to children at an early age helps them to learn more things, and they will possibly be able to learn to read at an earlier age. Have a certain time set aside so that you can read to your children, uninterrupted, everyday. Make the books fun by creating voices and really bring the books to life. Use books that help them to use their imagination. You can also use puppets for younger children to act out the story you are reading to keep them interested.
